A unique thing I’ve been working on. I’m sure others have put this together too…
E=mc2
This is Einstein's famous formula for Relativity.
Energy = mass x speed of light squared
This formula applies to space-time. The physical universe. But what would this be if we transposed it into the eternal realm?
Spirit can definitely be thought of as Divine Power / Energy (Acts 1:8, Matthew 22:29, Mark 5:30).
But what could correspond to mass? Well, the Hebrew word for Glory comes from a root (kabod) that literally means heavy. It was used to describe a ‘large’ priest named Eli. Paul also talks about the eternal weight of glory (2 Corinthians 4:17).
In space-time Light isn’t a constant, it varies according to mass and acceleration. But in Eternity God is Light, therefore it would be an Absolute/ a Constant.
In space-time we square the speed of light but in the higher dimension of Eternity perhaps Constant Light would be cubed (for the Trinity) or taken to the 7th exponent after the seven-fold Spirit (Isaiah 11:2)? Or maybe Light doesn’t have a speed there, it just is?? Instantaneous? I Am that I Am?
(Obviously I am just having a little fun speculating.)
The point is:
Space-Time: E=mc2
Heaven: Spirit = Glory x Light3
or Spirit = Glory x Light7
or Spirit = Glory x LIGHT
This would be akin to a trinitarian metaphysics, but let’s keep going. What if we tied it in with the Divine Economy?
Basically in our economy money is a representation of material possessions. More money = more material possession. What I’m worth in this world.
But there (Heaven), everything is measured according to Christ. Everything that we do on earth that has no eternal value is burned up at the Bema Seat Judgement (2 Corinthians 5:10). That which passes through the fire without being burned up comes out as gold, silver, and precious stones (1 Cor 3:10-15). These are works that, when measured against the standard of Christ Himself, are found to have eternal value.
This would eliminate works that originate from the motive or basis of self, or that come about as a result of the wisdom of this world instead of the wisdom of Christ.
Said another way, that which is burned up is not sin - Christ dealt with that at the Cross - what is burned up is dead works, dead orthodoxy, playing Church, putting on one's Christian face.
The good news is that we shall receive eternal reward! We will be lavished with white garments and crowns(1) which reflect the measure of Christ that formed in us while we were on the earth (Eph 4:13):
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD;
my soul shall exult in my God,
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation;
he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. - Isaiah 61:10
The greater our works the greater the glory. (These works are the fruit of salvation not the cause of it.) There will be vast differences between believers. Imagine Paul standing next to a lifetime criminal who repented on his deathbed. Our eternal light bodies and our garments and crowns will serve as a sort of insignia where-by people will know to what extent we died to self, died to the world, and followed Christ.
But it stands to reason that our splendor will also serve as a sort of Heavenly Currency in the Divine Economy. Hence the comparison to precious metals and precious stones. Eternal value, eternally possessed.
No inflation. No devaluation. No enemy or robber to steal it. Ever.
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. - 2 Corinthians 3:18
Once this life is over the opportunity to invest in eternal reward will be over. We only get one life. One shot at it. What are we going to do with the limited time that we have?
